Solved Fan on all the time in desktop

Normally when i boot my medion md8341 desktop the fan will start and then go off. Today it is staying on all the time

I do noy see any issue in device manager and i restored to last restore point as it was OK then. i doubt it has dust it was OK yesterday

OK solved it I remembered it was plugged in but the power to it was off. I think maybe it got a surge when i turned on the power. I turned off the power and on again and its ok

Be careful. I know of no fan that shouldn't run when the computer is on except the power supply in some cases.
Some power supply fans are controlled by temps.
What fan are you talking about?

I am assuming you mean the CPU cooling fan and like Layback Bear says it will be spinning even whenever the machine is switched on and at any power / idle settings.

I agree with the others; usually most computer fans will be running all the time because they are either a fan for the cpu or possibly a case fan or even a power supply fan; most of those types of fans as far as i can recall should run all the time to keep the components from getting "cooked".

Yes and in addition the fan on the CPU should it fail most of the later CPU's will auto shut down when they reach the critical upper temp for the core.
