Fans on while sleeping?

Hi, I just built a computer with a mini P180 case, which has fans with molex connectors. I have the fans plugged straight into the power supply. When I put the computer into sleep mode, the fans still spin. Is there any way to get the fans to go to sleep too?

Hi and welcome

Not if they are plugged directly into the PSU. That has to stay on and if the fans are plugged there so do they. Is there any where else that you can plug them?

Hmmm... thats odd though, because I have a fan power port thingy in my other computer with a molex input from the PS with 4 pin outputs, but the fans still turn off when in sleep....

Uhh, I don't think so :(....

No. The alternative is to shutdown, rather than sleep...unless you want to do some serious modding.

It may depend on the power supply. I have three machines running Windows 7 here, all are built into Antec P18x cases, all have case fans that plug into a Molex directly from the PSU and all of the fans shut down when the computer goes into sleep mode (s3).

The power supplies here are a Corsair TX 750, a PC Power and Cooling Silencer 510 SLI and an Antec Tru-Power 380.

Check your BIOS settings and make sure that sleep mode "S3" is enabled.
