Far Cry & Crysis on Win7 x64?

I am not a gamer. I would like to test my system with games and Far Cry and Crysis are available really cheap.

My question to you gamers is this: will these games run on Win7 x64?

They both will, but you'll need to patch them up to date..

make sure you get the right patches..

Crysis will test your rig to the max.. excellent gameplay..

Not only will they run on 64 bit, but Crysis has native 64 bit support and Far Cry can be patched to 64 bit,

Thanks for the link to the patch for Far Cry but I am using an Intel i7 950 processor and this patch is for an AMD processor.

Also, can I run this game from the dvd or must I rip it to my hdd? The only ripping software I have installed is AnyDVDHD.

Wrong (try looking in your winsxs folder ), it runs the same on 64 bit Intel CPU's as AMD CPU's.

And yes you have to install the game, it doesn't run from the disk.

I bet farcry 64bit would look sweet- I might give that a try myself in the near future.

Crysis is a very graphic intensive game, it will push the limits of you GPU. If you don't have an adequate GPU, you will see it lag and loss of frame rates.

I don't have all the technical know how/answers but I believe AMD licensed 64-bit instructions to Intel (something like that and don't kill me if I got it wrong) anyways whether it say AMD or not if it's 64-bit it will run on Intel processors. Don't get caught up in the AMD part of it.

Anyway if you do decide to use the 64-bit patch don't patch Far Cry to the 1.4 patch, it results in strange issues. This is from experience

As for Crysis - just install, patch and play. It's that simple nothing special needed to get it to run..... other than your hardware as the game is STILL system intensive. And as noted, the game has native 64-bit support
