I just got a new mouse that fits my hand, and it works no problem, windows detected it and everything, problem is that it is slower moving across screen than my old mouse, even on maximum speed. Anyone know of a way to make it even faster?

Yes, I've searched for the answer, and I haven't found anything helpful, so please don't even go there.

Thanks

Go to mouse settings in your control panel;

select the mouse speed you prefer.

If you do not have some of these options, it is because the standard Windows mouse driver does not fully support your mouse. If you received a driver with the mouse, that may extend the functions you can use with it. A lot of mice now also have a small button somewhere on the mouse marked "DPI". Clicking this has the the effect of speeding up the mouse on your screen.

Many mice also have a relational speed increase. If you move the mouse a short distance, fast, then it will move further on the screen.

If you need any more information, you need to tell us the make and model of the mouse.

Thank you, but did you see the part where I said that "it is slower moving across screen than my old mouse, even on maximum speed"?

I already tried what you say, and that and it did not help... Perhaps there's some kind of registry change I can do?

I read what you wrote, but I have no way of knowing whether you have set up properly. So I gave you general information first to make sure you have.

If you tell me the make and model of the mouse perhaps I can help, perhaps not.

Also, is your mouse set up exactly as shown in that image I posted?

Oh. I am pretty sure it is set up right. I don't think there's much to set up. Plug it in, wait for it to get detected, go.

Now here's where it gets complicated, but I used this mouse on my old computer with no problems.

It's a bluetooth mouse, and Logitech 900. Of course I plugged in the Bluetooth adapter and lete it be detected, or the mouse wouldn't work at all, but it does. I've used bluetooth devices for a while, but am forced to used a PS2 keyboard, or else I can't access the bios.

It's set up exactly the way as pictured, except for the Pointer Speed slider that is set to maximum (but still not fast enough, but plenty fast enough with my previous mouse, which is odd)

Uncheck the box which reads "Enhance Pointer Precision", and see how fast it is then.

Hmm, ok. Just tried that, yes it does move a little faster, but it's not precise, it jumps around and does this weird acceleration thing.

That mouse is known to have various problems with the generic drivers on Windows 7 x64. This software is compatible with windows 7 x64 and with your mouse. Make a system restore point, and then download this driver software and install it;

I wonder if I can just extract that installer, find the mouse driver, point it to the right .inf, and not install the whole setpoint suite, cause that really messes with your system, I've used it before.

Why would I want to restore my registry to an earlier version?

That is possible, but I have never done it with this mouse and driver, so I can't help you any further on that. There might be some information on the web about it.

Logitech do not supply specific drivers for that mouse on Windows 7 x64. It is supposedly incompatible, but the drivers I gave a link to do work.

It is always best to check the compatibility of various hardware before you buy it, trying to get hardware to work for which there are no "official" drivers from the supplier can be extremely difficult and time consuming, if it works at all.

Make a system restore point before you install drivers, Then you can revert if something goes wrong.

I guess I am going to have to install the whole setpoint suite, because I am not sure which device in the device manager to point to the extracted files.

Indeed, in such a case, that would appear to be the most appropriate course of action.
