Faster PC without Virtual PC & XP mode ?

I installed the XP mode because i needed it for a specific programm. I updated the programm and it can work now also in Win 7 Pro 64 bit. So I don't need the XP mode anymore.
My HDD (C: drive) is a SSD Intel 80 Gb and is for OS and programms only. For data I have a WD Black 640 Gb.

Will my pc become faster when I uninstall the Win Virtual PC and the XP mode ?

Hi there

It won't make ANY difference if you don't RUN the application.

You'll re-gain disk space (some) and possibly a service or two won't need to start - but overall you won't see any difference.

On an 80GB system partition, getting rid of the virtual HDD for xp mode makes a pretty significant change in the available space, and more free space on a HDD or SSD for that matter will mean more room for windows to scatter critical system files all over the place like it usually does before the drive becomes hopelessly fragmented. So yes and no, getting rid of XP mode and the virtual drive it created will not make your system faster, but it will prolong the honeymoon before the inevitable slow down.

The inevitable slow down with Intel SSD drives is almost non-existent. Coupled with Windows 7 and TRIM support, you would likely never see it.
