Faster switch?

People use gigabit switches for fast data transfer between various computers,
So do I. But you still don't need over 100Mbps to stream HD video on your local network, unless you are streaming several different videos to multiple computers over the same link.

As far as your switch, if it is still going through your router's integrated 100Mbps switch, that is your limiting factor.

I may have the model incorrect, but it does say gigabit on the the switch. Mybe it was the old switch then as I do have speed increase after changing the switch.

I'd it says gigabit on the switch and your cable has a green light and not a orange light for the port activity then you have at least cat5e in your home and it is using gigabit connection speeds. That means it can go to that, if your pc has a 100MB nic it will only use that much. If it's green from switch to pc your pc should have a 1000MB nic as it sees gigabit across the link.

That makes sense. Networked printers don't need 1Gbps speeds. Even at 10Mbps, the mechanical nature of printing imposes such latencies (delays) that the printer buffers will fill way before the print job completes.

Yeah printers would be the only thing orange usually. Sorry that's why I said if it's pc to switch it's green I figured any printer in between would do that and confuse you.
