I cannot install Win 7 as it says it is not compatible driver. My problem is my C: drive is the SATA drive and I am running Vista on it no problem. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have run advisor and it say's the driver is not compatible. When I try to install it will stop and say it again. I try upgrade and fresh install both stop. It does not show up in the choice of where to install. I wonder if I could install to another drive and then clone over to SATA?

Are you trying also by booting from the installer? See if it will take the drive or install in boot.

There are several times I have not been able to boot installer so moved HDD to another PC to install Win7. So far it has worked fine every time.

When you plug the new WIN7 HDD back in and start up, it will show a cascade of drivers swapping out, punctuated by requests for restart. Then it's over and ready to rock.

I have always run chkdsk, sfc /scannow and HDD surface scan afterward in disbelief it went so easily, but it always checks out and never has had further issues.

Worth a try.

I'll try that I guess.

I have booted from DVD both 32 and 64 bit versions and also tried running set up from windows. Always get "This driver installed for this device is not compatible with Windows 7." It is WinXP Promise FastTrak 378 (tm) Controller. Just used Drivermax to get newer driver and got same message. It said driver was from Vista SP1. I guess I'll have to try and fool it. Thanks for the ideas.

If you bought WIn7 retaiil you get MS tech support so you might wanna run this by them because they have the fixes for all known issues, and some unknown too.
