Favorite HD Testing utility

I want to make triple sure that a certain drive is good.
What's the best utility to use to confirm or otherwise...
??
My baseline assumption is to pull the mftr's own bootable utility disc and use that.
In the past, some have suggested that Seagate's Seatools is the better of that lot.

Depends on the brand. If West Digital use their tools it is designed for them.

If other brands have a tool use theirs.

If it happens to be under warranty the manufacturer may want you to use their tools and give them the results for a return.

WD tools may only work on WD's. I'm not sure but that is what I use on my WD's.

While it might not serve the purpose of warranty, I like HD Tune. I have had to RMA a number of drives lately, with both Seagate and WDC, and I was never required to use their diagnostics programs.

I should have stated "may" want you to run their tool in first post. That was my intent.

I should add, that when I need a warranty replacement, I do not go through their tech support, but straight to RMA.
