Hai!

So I did found a tutorial on how to remove the favorites link in the navigation pane but I cant find how I can prevent the favorites folder.. the one that is in each user directory, from reappearing after i delete it. I never use it.. its with IE and I dont use IE so I was wondering if anyone knows how to do this?

That folder is associated with windows, as is IE, so cannot be deleted. As you know, it will just be recreated. If it bothers you seeing it, you can move it somewhere you don't often look.

Navigate to the favorites folder> Right click and choose properties> Location tab> Choose a new location and click move> Apply and OK your way out

It will still be there on your PC, but out of sight :D

Hello Raevyn,

The Favorites folder in the navigation pane is not the same Favorites that is in Internet Explorer or the C:\Users\(user-name)\Favorites folder.

The Favorites (group) in the navigation pane displays the shortcuts (links) that you have in your C:\Users\(user-name)\Links folder instead.

The Favorites in Internet Explorer displays the internet shortcuts that you have in your C:\Users\(user-name)\Favorites folder. You cannot remove Favorites in Internet Exporer, but you can hide the C:\Users\(user-name)\Favorites folder to not see it if you do not have hidden files/folders set to display.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Raevyn,

Did you also try the command below in step 5 of Option Two in this tutorial to try and hide the folder? Be sure to substitute UserName in the command with your actual user profile folder name.

ATTRIB +H "C:\Users\UserName\Favorites" /S /D

OR

ATTRIB +H %USERPROFILE%\Favorites /S /D

If the folder is faded afterwards, then it's set as hidden, but you have hidden files/folders set to be displayed (faded).

Yes i have now tried that, and it still wont leave. What is strange is I did manage to change the Favorites location to be inside another folder using a registry hack, but now it shows up in both. ANd to REALLY annoy me, i moved my music folder to "Audio" and now it is re-creating a music folder in the user directory as well (just like Favorites) I know its minor but it is really is VERY annoying they would make it so difficult to allow you the OWNER of the computer to do what you want.

Raevyn,

It sounds like they may not have been moved properly with you having duplicates of them. Use Option Two in the tutorial below to restore the default location of the ones that you have duplicates of.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/18583-user-folders-restore-default-location.html

Afterwards, if you still wanted to, move them again using Option Two in the tutorial below.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/18583-user-folders-restore-default-location.html

Now, when you go to hide the folder, be sure that you do it using the path that you moved it to instead.
