favorites problem

this has stumped me good and proper, i`m running windows 7 (64bit) ie8.
now for some unknown reason to me when i click on my favorites tab it`s showing programs instead of my favorites. all my bookmarks are still in my fav folder but i don`t understand how this has happened.
any ideas would be a huge help

How long have you has this problem?

Have you used a Registry Cleaner / Optimizer?

Have you a System Restore point created PRIOR to the problem occurring?

Have you had a Security intrusion lately?
