I see where one of the performance enhancements recommended is to disable unneeded "Features" in the Program & Features section of Control Panel. The impact of disabling some of the features is obvious, but in some cases it's not so obvious whether I need to leave a feature installed or not based on how I use my system and the applications that I have installed (for example, Microsoft.NET Framework, Remote Differential Compression, etc.). I have tried searching for a description of each "Feature" and how to determine whether it might be needed or not, but have been unable to locate a good discussion or description of each "Feature". Can anyone direct me to a source of this info. Thanks.

Here's what I do: If it has nothing to do with security, I disable. If I then find that something that I need is not working because of what I disabled, I then re-enable it. In my opinion, that is a good rule-of-thumb.
