Feedback in Ventrilo

I am getting Horrible feedback in ventrillo. When someone talks and I talk over them, I can hear myself talking extremely loud, and they can hear themselves.

I had this fixed before I reformatted, but I don't remember the settings I had.

Not sure where the problem lies, if it's a Ventrilo setting or a Win-7 audio setting.

You can consider these two informed guesses. :sarc:
Test after each.


1. Right click on the Windows speaker icon in the Taskbar.
Select Recording devices.
Double click on the "Default" recording (input) device
Go to the "Listen" tab and deselect the "Listen" checkbox.


2. Right click on the Windows speaker icon in the Taskbar.
Select Playback devices.
Double click on the "Default" output device.
Go to the Levels tab, scroll down to your output device and lower the volume level.
(Not the main output level at the top)


If the problem is a Ventrilo setting, neither of these will help.

Also look at you microphone enhancements, there may be noise or echo suppresion located there.

Sorry I am getting back to you so late.. But I tried all of what you suggested, and nothing worked.

Are you playing any games that have built in voice chat enabled?
