Hi,

FF 39.0.3 won't allow reinstall of uninstalled DnG search engine.

I previously uninstalled DnG search eng several mo ago. Now I tried to install DnG, in FF 39.0.3 and FF said it was already installed.

My question is: How do uninstall an add on that has been previously uninstalled so I can instal a newer version?

Mhhh... maybe you can try looking for a reference about that engine in your %appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[default or your profile folder]
If not, refresh Firefox with about:support, it will save a complete copy of your current profile (including addons, prefs and saved passwords and bookmarks) and clear everything in your profile so you can add it once again.

Below are screen shots of the 2 references in searching the area you suggested.

Can I just delete these from the "profile"?

Move them to another folder, so they don't longer exist on the profile, and try installing again, it should be OK.
If not, try the refreshing thingy
