Solved File copies that run for hours, what's up with the .vhd files?

I was copying files from one drive to another.
Windows said the copy had ended however, some process has been going for an additional 1.75 hours.
While Windows says it will end in 5 seconds, it hasn't.
The only indication of activity is the sound of the hard drives and the slow reduction in the rate of transfer.
The File / Files in question are listed as .vhd files.
I'd like to end whatever is occurring but I'm afraid I'll really screw up something important.
I am including a Snip of the currently running process.


Is there an explanation why this process takes so long even though Windows thinks it ended?

About an hour or so later, not much progress!

It's been about another hour.

Lights flashing on both Drives, read then write, I think.
