File Corruption issues

I have recently installed a copy of Windows 7 home premium 32 bit and it has been nothing but a headache since I got it.

The biggest issue that is absolutely killing my computer has to do with file downloads. When I download a program, installer, zip file, etc, the file gets corrupted at some point during the transfer making it unusable. I do not believe this is a problem with my network, as I have a linux computer and my roommate has a Windows 7 computer as well, and neither have this problem. I never once had this issue while I was running Windows XP. Here are the installers that either fail to launch, or give me a file corrupted error message when I try to install them: gmax, pidgin, openoffice 3.1, Microsoft Expression studio, Adoble Flash player 10, Mozilla Firefox, Steam and more.

I have connected my computer directly to my modem and I am still experiencing these issues. Can anyone provide any kind of insight to what would cause this and what could fix it?

Antivirus and/or firewall. Completely uninstall and do not just disable. Test.

I have uninstalled my antivirus/firewall and reset my router/modem. The issue persists.

Boot to "safe mode + networking" and try your luck there. If good, we will figure out what is doing it in normal mode.

Don't use any 3rd party download helpers or the like.

I am not using any 3rd party download helpers. I have tried this in Safe Mode + Network and I still have the same problem

Oddly enough, this problem started happening after I added more RAM to my system. I initially had 2 GB and I added 1 more. My motherboard wont support more than 3.

Anybody found a solution to the corrupted zip file issue?

I have the same problem even when copying a zip or self-extracting exe from another computer wether it be across the network or from a flash drive. If I extract the file on another computer and then copy the extracted folder to a flash drive and over it works fine.

Otherwise all Zip and SelfExtracting EXEs fail under Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit

Note: this is on a full release, not the RCs or beta.

Ok.. slight update.. still a problem

Wonderful Microsoft Security Essentials is causing the issue. I have to shutoff realtime protection in order to use/download/copy any zip or self extracting file and have it be usable on the computer.

Suggestions? Advice? Ranting about the same issue?

Thanks in advance!
