Hi. A couple of weeks ago I deleted a wmv video file from a folder containing other video files. Today, I searched that folder for something and the deleted file showed up (it shared a word with the file I was looking for). However, the file wasn't REALLY there, just the thumbnail for it. Anything I tried to do with it - delete, rename, move - gave me the message "Could not find this item. This is no longer located..."

As I said, I deleted it a couple of weeks ago so any 'ghost' would have vanished by now, no?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to cause and cure? Many thanks if you do.

You can try deleting contents of these folders-
Temp, %temp%
MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE NOT RUNNING ANY APP/DOWNLOADING ANYTHING
1.Click Win+R
Then write Temp
Delete entire contents by Ctrl+A and Delete
Leave those that won't delete
2. Click Win+R
Then write %Temp%
Delete entire contents by Ctrl+A and Delete
Leave those that won't delete
If the ghost still appears try deleting prefetch-
Click Win+R
Then write Prefetch
Delete entire contents by Ctrl+A and Delete
Leave those that won't delete
[Note: Deleting prefetch may make a few apps take little longer time at 1st run to start after deletion]

Hello Beowulf1 and thanks for the suggestion. It didn't work, unfortunately. I then ran CCleaner but all it did was remove the picture from the thumbnail.

I fixed it, though: I created a new folder, moved the videos into it and deleted the old folder.
