File Manager that works?

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone can recommend an alternative file management program to windows explorer that works with Windows 7.

Ones I've tried include..
1: xplorer2 - Shuts down whenever I try renaming files. Will usually rename the first couple and then shut down.
2: FreeCommander - Has the same problem as above but locks up and has to be shut down by using task manager. Also locks up when extracting zip files.
3: PowerDesk 7 - Shuts down whenever I right click on either the C or D drives. Not really sure if this is a bug or not because I can right click on every other item with no problems.

I just need a fairly simple manager with dual panes, a clean interface, is low on resource use and most of all is STABLE under windows 7.

Suggestions?

Cheers,
PKFFW

I feel your pain. Long time PowerDesk user. I spoke with the folks at Powerdesk (VCOM isn't it now?) and they noted that there is a patch in the works for Windows 7 due to be released Q1 2010. i will certainly purchase the patch/updated version/PowerDesk 8 or whatever they call it.

In the meantime I am using xplorer2 Lite (free) which is working fine for me. If only it had the ability to create shortcut buttons across the top like PowerDesk...

Hey-

My vote is also with Cubic Explorer - but I like to use the portable DEV version. Works a little better on my 64 bit and then if explorer goes to hell I can use it as backup.

Here's a great article from freeware genius - should help in your search.

Is your Windows 32 or 64 bit? I use FreeCommander every day on 32 bit. I don't have a problem with lockups. I use the file renamer. No issues I can think of.

Are you using verion 2009.02b ??
