File Search Anomaly ?

I have WIN 7 64-bit with WIN installed on my C:drive.
The file "bootmgr" exists here.
However , if I enter "bootmgr" into the Search Box nothing is shown .

Why ?

And, in addition to having Hidden system files showing, where are you trying the search? If from the start menu search box, it won't show. Try from Windows Explorer.

Yes I was searching using the Start Menu Search Box.

Why won't it show here?
I thought that was where you searched for everything

The start menu search only searches the index. It does not search the hard drives for files. This keeps the start menu from being bogged down when you search.

Search from the search box in Windows Explorer. If you familiarize yourself with WIn Search syntax (filters), your searches will be very effective. In example, if you search for the term bootmgr and it doesn't appear, try name:bootmgr (hidden and OS files must be showing, <LINK| of course).

You're welcome . It's not as complex as it may seem. The Configure and Use link above will be helpful. If you find it too cumbersome, some use the free Everything search engine, which is very fast, but limited to filename searches only. I myself prefer the versatility and shell aspect of windows search, and while not always quite as fast as other search engines, you can search on tags, contents, date, and many more criteria.
