I'm having the same problem. I also can't browse my shares on the same computer, but I can go directly to the folder.

OS
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
In my first install I narrowed it down to Live Sign in Assistant service and uninstalled it, but this is a new install and I don't have Windows Live installed.

Clicking the sharing tab in folder properties takes long also, and then I have to wait for it to load if I click advance sharing too.

Hello ydoubleun,

It maybe cause by your Anti-Virus or Security software's Real time scan. Which one do you have?

Try disabling it or uninstall and see if it helps. I use MSE and no issue with it.

I use avast. I tried disabling the scanner a while back but it didn't help. I also tried disabling the port 80 scan also, but that didn't help. I tried MSE on my Home theater computer and it was a little more of a resource hog when it comes to IO access. Because my home theater computer is not a fast computer it was more noticeable, so I stuck with Avast. I have the sharing problem on both my computers. On my previous install before SP1 I tried MSE to see if it would help as one of my troubleshooting and then narrowed it down to windows live sign in assistance, but I don't even have windows live sign in assistant now. I'm clueless as to the problem. Windows live assistant also caused my Linux Mint netbook to not access the network share, but since there's no live software on my computer now, I can access shares with Linux Mint.

Have you also tried uninstalling Avast?

I did uninstall Avast and use MSE for a while to test it out, but it never helped with the network problem.

There was never a solution for ydoubleun and I resurrected a thread with the same problem as mine.

Oh..didn't pay attention to the date, oops..... Sorry if it took me long to reply, been busy.

Can you pls post the ipconfig /all of your computer? Are you using your ISP's DNS? It can be the same Gateway IP of your router.

If there are any unnecessary Services that you don't need you may disable them for now.

Your ipconfig /all looks good, no issue there.

Have you also tried disabling unnecessary Services?

I would start disabling each Service (Apps/Programs, not Networking Services) one by one and find out which one is the Culprit.
Try disabling your P2P Programs running and see if that helps.

Also, have you performed a Clean boot?

If Clean Boot didn't help, try to force your Network Adapter and change the Speed & Duplex from Auto Negotiation to Full 100bps. You may do changes from your computer's Device Manager's Advanced Tab.

Please let us know with your progress.
