Hi Folks,

I have been doing to transfer testing between a test computer (WIN 7) and a Win 2007r2 box.

I am transferring 300Mb single zipped file which is taking 30 minutes (slow I know hence the reason for testing)

One behavior I have noticed which I cannot explain while watching the network interfaces utilization graph (Task manager) is that at about 16 minutes into the transfer the transmission over the network stops but it takes another 14 minutes to complete 'the transfer'. by which I mean the transfer window remains on the screen and the count down timer continues to count down the remaining 14 minutes.

I'm just curious of this behavior as I have not seen this before. can anyone explain what is going on here? I have done the same test on multiple Win7 computers and win2007 boxes and it's always the same.

regards

Ciag

How are you copying? Using built in robocopy is the fastest method. So much comes into play CPU network speed disk speed on both pcs. Very often the problem can be anti virus as it will scan on read and write on the other PC. Robocopy tends not to get scanned as it's cmd line it's was written for servers give it a try
