File Transfer over wifi with Droid 2

Hello,
I have a desktop PC running Win 7 Ultimate 64 with a secured wifi home network. I also have a Droid 2 smartphone on the network. I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out a way to do file transfers between my droid (mainly music and photos) and pc.

When I try and view my PC files using any app on the droid I will see all the "public folders" but when I try and view any of the default music, documents, pictures libraries I get a user permission failure (username and password authentication needed). The twisted part is I have no username and password set up on my Win 7 PC . When it boots up there is no user name or password required. My wife and I are the only users so we have no "accounts set up". The Admin is the default account and there is no password.

Our daughter has a PC running Win Xp and I can view all shared files on that PC via the droid. Driving me nuts. Any suggestions to why I am being required authentication?

I assume the other option would be to somehow "include" all my music, pictures, videos, etc, from my default library in the "public" libraries.

it does work for me. i have a samba server on the phone that lets me access the sd-card from the 7 box, and ES file manager has a LAN tab that lets me access the win7 box from the phone - actually a bit unsecurely as i can even browse the root of C: - which i find odd as it's not shared within the OS.

few suggestions:
-forget about the "home group" or whatever that abomination is on 7. use the standard tried-out network functions.
-forget about the libraries as well - that seems like a semi-useless shortcuts collection/indexing scanario.
-do create passwords for the accounts that you want to use. i've ran into issues already in the XP era where empty passwords block network (et. al.) functions as programs expect to deal with a user/pass combo. if you're concerned about too much security, use admin/admin; share/share etc, whatever is easy to remember.
-there's issues on win7 network authentication beyond the above, and while it may not be your issue, it may also well be. android is another graphical UI flavor of linux, so samba is at the core of network browsing:

That is not only the twisted part but most likely the source of your problem.
To establish a sharing connection you need a login and PW for security purposes.
But say, since you can access the public folders, why not simply copy everything you'd like on your phone in those folders? That's certainly easier than changing the way of login, you're comfortable with.
