Files Disappearing from WMP 12 Library

I have a bunch of MP4 videos and mostly JPEG pictures that I can get to appear in the windows media player library fine by using the rebuild library button, but they disappear on the next start of WMP. It keeps my music fine though. Although I deleted the videos once I never touched the pictures yet each keeps disappearing next time I start Windows Media Player. I'm not really sure how to fix this because I don't know much about how WMP 12 organizes its library.

I actually fixed this by deleting the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player folder. Now everything works correctly. Was this safe to do, everything seems to work fine?
