Has anyone been having some issues with the way images appear in Firefox 3.5 RC3? They appear darker than in earlier versions of Firefox and Internet Explorer.

I believe that was the last bug fix that was holding back the release, it is fixed now though.

The only thing that would normally account for that is the use of ICC profiles.

Has FF started or stopped using embedded ICC profiles in jpg images between those two versions? Or maybe it was off by default in 3.0 and on by defailt in 3.5? You can try turning off color management in FF and see if it goes away.

The actual look of the images would also be dependant on the loaded profiles for your monitor as well. So they may look the same on one persons monitor or different on another.

How to bypass disabled themes & addons on FF RC 3.5!

I'm using it now & it works great and it's really FAST!

Here's a tip for those that don't know this...
IF you have a favorite theme you'd like to use in
Firefox RC 3.5 that was disabled you can use it if you modify the install.rdf!
Here's the instructions on how to do this...
I'm using Aero Silver Fox Basic as an example as it's my favorite that was disabled. Do this on the desktop as it's the easiest.

1. Download your theme by rightclicking save target as.
2. Open the fx theme package with WinRAR then drag & drop the install.rdf to the desktop.
3. Edit with Notepad and change the line that says
<em:maxVersion>3.5.*</em:maxVersion> & change to what you see here which is 3.5.
4. Drag & drop it back into WinRAR & replace it with the edited one.
5. Open Firefox 3.5, then open the Addons window & click the Themes tab.
6. Drag & drop the newly modified fx package into the themes window & install.
7. Done! You now can use your favorite theme again! :D

This exact method can also be done with your Extensions as well! :p 9 times out of 10 there will be no problems using them after this.... :geek:

Yes color management was disabled by default until performance was up to par, now it is set to mode 2 (Enable color management for tagged graphics only) by default.

There are easier ways of doing that.

That well may be, but if you don't know any other way (like me) & no-one posts how to do this another way that's "Easier" then I will continue with the method I know that works.
Because I already have my themes & extensions stored in folders along with the FF installation exe it's really fast & easy for me to do this. Takes all of about 20 seconds for me. I think that's pretty fast & easy...at least for me it is. ;)

Before I get myself in too deep here...looks like you know your stuff when it comes to FF! I just looked in Tutorials & it looks like you got some programming skills so I'm impressed.

Even still Yup Yup...this is the ONLY way I know how to do this & it works 90% of the time without causing any issues at all.
My 2 cents worth... LOL :p

I'm going to check out Enabling Transparency for FF in that while I'm lookin around... :D

I'm pretty comfy getting into stuff like that.
Easy enough to put back if I screw it all up. ;)

I just installed the Nightly Tester Tools addon & that's just too cool!
Made disabling compatibility a snap!!! Thanks a bunch dude!
Way Cool!
