To do this, you will want to use separate Firefox profiles.can i run mozilla 3.6.8 & mozilla 4 beta 3 at the same time ?
If you're not familiar with profiles:
Profile Manager - MozillaZine Knowledge Base
1. Close Firefox, start the Profile Manager, create a new profile for FF 4.0; give it a recognizable name. Close Profile Manager.
2. Download and install beta, but do not start it. Create a shortcut to it, that should look similar to this:
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 4.0 Beta 2\firefox.exe" -p "Beta4" -no-remote
Translation: This link will start 4.0, using its own profile, which I, in my usual fit of total brilliancy, named "Beta4"; that is the `p "Beta4" part of the link.
The `no-remote' part allows you to run both 3.6.x and Beta 4 at the same time.
I'm not going to go into a discussion of the risks of using beta releases, nor the fact that very few FF extensions currently work with Beta 3 (in fact, a few that worked with Beta were disabled in Beta 3; such matters are not germane to your question.
