Anybody else using firefox 4.0?

I know its still in beta but I'm loving the speed of it!!

i have been using ff for a long time, but in the past 6-7 months a have switched to opera, more faster and secure

i didn't know that ff4 beta is available for download, guess i'll give it a try and see how it goes

The only problem I see in version 4: Not all the add-ons I use since version 2 are compatible ... yet! As you can see, there are no problems with Firefox itself!

All my addon's seem to work and I like the speed increase too, very happy with it, I hope they don't mess it up on final release!!

Thanks for the advice! I must confess, however, that I already knew that. Actually I'm just getting ready to migrate to version 4, and this drawback is not really a problem.

I Uninstalled the older one first.

I'm using it, It's alright, nothing special *shrug* a few hanging issues at the moment, but I;m sure that will be ironed out by final. I have always used Firefox, and I won't change out, but apart from Direct2D and HTML5 it's not a massive leap forward. I don't like the UI either.

@maranello, it will install along side, but will use your FF profile, so your awesomebar etc. will remember everything you did on the 3.* version

You can have both. It does some checking every time you switch versions however.

just install it, can't believe how much it looks exactly like Opera... it they will succeed in improving the browsing speed until the final version will be out, i guess i will switch back to ff

anyway, will test it some more before taking a decision...

Installed the nightly updates during the last months. Installed final 4.0beta and have'nt had any problems.

Installed in separate directory so I can also run Minefield 4.0b10pre.

Removed 3.6.13.

No issues noted yet with 4.0.

Firefox 4.0 Beta 10 and Beta 11 in the Next 2 Weeks

Although the initial plan was to release the tenth Beta development milestone of Firefox 4.0 and then move to the Release Candidate stage, it now appears that the next iteration of the open source browser will linger in Beta just a tad longer.
How much longer? Well, for at least one extra release. Fact is that Firefox 4.0 Beta 10 will be followed by Beta 11 and not by the first RC.

I would love to use it but the touchpad controls on my laptop don't work properly with it. The back and foward buttons on top of the touchpad do not work. They do on 3.6 though. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks

You have to tweak that config file of firefox http pipelining maxrequest and so forth then you'll see much faster browsing speeds.

if u know how to do all that tweaks, please share with the rest of us... that would be an proper answer

Firefox 4.0 Beta Could Go Up to 12

By the time that Mozilla gets done with the Beta phase of the development process there might be as many as a dozen Builds of the next iteration of the open source browser ahead of the first Release Candidate (RC).

Having suffered numerous delays, only 10 Beta Builds of Firefox 4.0 were slated for delivery initially.

Thanks, Jan. As long as they get it right is all I'm worried about and, so far, they are on track to do so - just taking a bit longer than we thought it might.

I've been using the 4.x betas (pre, mostly) since they started and I feel a bit bad for those waiting on the official 4.0 release.

I'm not too surprised there has been so many beta releases, don't forget the new JaegerMonkey javascript engine & the Hardware acceleration. You can't make wholesale changes like that without breaking a few eggs.
The faster performance will be worth it in the long run.
