Firefox 4 Lost Bookmarks Problem
Hey,
Okay so I have a problem with Firefox 4 and I can't figure out how to get my bookmarks back. What happened was i booted my laptop and when i opened my browser it gave me the welcome to Firefox 4 page and all my bookmarks were gone. Yet all my other settings are the same, such as my download location, etc. I would like to recover my bookmarks as i use them all the time and it makes life a lot easier when you can make short cuts. If any body knows how to recover my bookmarks that would be great.
Thanks
RitualJman

They should be in your firefox profile on your hard drive---assuming they weren't deleted entirely.
That profile is usually in c users yourusername appdata roaming mozilla firefox.
Look for files with a json extension.

I'd try a System Restore to a time prior to when this started. I'm not sure it will help.

Do you have a file called "bookmarks.html" in your profile??
Have you uninstalled Firefox and then reinstalled it? This will NOT delete your existing profile.

I'm out of ideas.
All I can suggest is to ensure that you are using the right technique when you try to import bookmarks.
I understand the pain. To me, losing bookmarks would be much worse than losing Windows itself. Bookmarks are more important than most data and I always back them up separately, just as if they were priceless photographs or tax returns.
One more idea:
You might install Internet Explorer and see if you can import them to that browser. If you can, maybe you can then export the IE bookmarks into Firefox in some way?

*cough* use Xmarks in the future?
Also try Previous Versions, by right-click on Firefox's profile folder in question then Properties.
