Firefox and Waterfox!

Dear friends,
It seems FF 10.0.2, the latest stable version is not yet fully integrated for 64-bit Windows 7. What's on offer is Waterfox! Even Opera has integrated it's browser to seamlessly work with the 64-bit OS and System. Any comments to the contrary are welcome and authentic and informed posts will be most helpful!

Works well in my computer also. I did have some stuttering, and some minor other issues right after updating, but after running CCleaner, it all works well now.

FF always worked well on my 64x computer, and my 32x computer before that. The only problem is the slow cold start ups. I installed Waterfox about a week ago and find it a little faster.

I am sure that many 32-bit softwares including the Browsers will "work" on a 64-bit system, but a 64-bit Browser like IE9 and Opera will show up the difference in performance!

Yes of course,but is better to have a 32 bit stable program than a unstable 64bit program

The only 64 bit browser from Opera is a Labs build its not being actively developed.
As for 64 bit browsers performing faster ran Sunspider on both Opera 32 bit & 64 bit & the winner 32 bit 160.3ms The 64 bit could only manage a time of 160.6ms.

known issues for 64 bit Opera.

Known issues for Windows:

You'll experience choppy scrolling on pages with embedded Flash
Scrolling inside windowed Flash is not working
WMP player plugin controls get corrupted after scrolling
Silverlight may have some issues
Opera may crash on resizing the plugin window
Minimal restart in Opera's crashlog dialog works as a full restart
You'll experience a temporary freeze when deleting plugin data
Some strings in 64bit Opera will suffer corrupted text substitutions
The Shockwave Director plugin is not detected under 64bit Opera

Must admit for general browsing the 64 bit version of Opera seemed pretty good but Opera have plenty of experience with 64 bit browsers going back for years on the Linux operating system.

The one advantage Waterfox has over IE9 is you need not set the Zoom every time you open a new tab! That's a telling point but off-topic really!

IE9 64bit is not ready for prime time either. IE9 32 bit got a new engine when it was released but IE9 64bit's engine was not upgraded and uses the same engine from IE8. In the past I did see some benchmarks where IE9 32 bit outperformed IE9 64bit.

There is no need for 64bit browsers so the effort has not been up to par on development.

Yeah I've always wanted to see Mozilla release a 64 bit version of Firefox, to match what the operating system can do. Like many others, Firefox is working fine in the 64 bit environment on my machine. It's updated to version 11 for now, but it's still not 64 bit. I will have to look into that Waterfox, first time I've heard of that.

only current problem i have with ff is that when you go on google sometimes it hangs when it brings up the searches that google recommends and says not responding for a bit then response again. Something with the update messed it up for me :| been happening for quiet a while and got a bit annoying.

How many add-ons do you have installed? The more the add-ons, the slower the startup of FF!

I have 8 add ons. Waterfox loads cold in about 8 seconds, which is about the same as Chrome and IE9. FF would take 8 to 16 seconds. Not a problem really. On my 32x XP computer, FF took up to 22 seconds, and the add ons weren't the problem. That's just the way it was.
