I have no idea why this is happening but I"m trying to go to this page:
Free sheet music : Bach, Johann Sebastian - Fugue 6 - BWV 851 (Organ solo)
and every time I get there I get a notice from Windows that Firefox has changed my theme from Aero to something else.
I have disabled my Java plugins in Firefox but it still keeps doing it.

By the way this also happens when I launch a Photoshop Plugin called OnOne PhotoTools
PhotoTools 2.5 Professional Edition - onOne Software
Basically once I'm in Photoshop and it's time to launch this plugin it always changes my Windows theme.

One more:

I do a lot of recording on my computer and use Pro Tools for it.
Every time I launch Pro Tools and it goes through all the plugins that it has to go through during boot up it changes my Windows theme again to something plain when it launches one of those plugins.

I would understand the Pro Tools situation because it does not as of yet officially support Win 7.

But the OnOne and Firefox are fully compatible.

Any ideas? ? ? ?

Thanks

this is a puzzler, how much Ram do you have? Possible you don't have enough resources so you are losing Aero theme and being changed to basic theme? Do you get an actual windows popup error when this happens? Can you tell us what theme is in use, what it is changed to and a screen shot of the error?

Thanks for your reply.

My regular color scheme is the first of the Windows 7 Aero themes, if you go in the themes panel.
Once I go to those websites or launch the software I get the following pop up message by the clock:

Error.jpg

At this time Windows changes its theme to Windows 7 Basic, the one on the bottom left in the themes panel.

It's not until I turn off Firefox - or any of the software that cause this - that I get my regular theme back.

I'm on three month old HP Z800 workstation with dual Xeon processors, Win 7 64 bit, 6 gb of ram, with ATI FirePro V3700 video card.

Thanks

This is a longshot. Run the WEI (Windows Experience Index) assessment again:

Start> In the search box type Windows Experience Index
Click on Check the Windows Experience Index in results above

Click on Re-run the assesment

See if that helps. Windows may think you don't have enough resources.

Did what you said, the numbers are:

Processor: 7.9
Memory (RAM): 7.9
Graphics: 5.1
Gaming Graphics: 5.9
Primary Hard Disk: 5.9

This pretty much tells me I probably should probably turn off the Aeros theme for good.

Hello !!

I have seen such situation before mainly it happens with software that we do remote desktop. It switches to that view for better speed and performance. But in your case i found it uses Flash, PDF and Windows Media Player Plugins. Either one of them might has problems. So the best thing to do is to uninstall Firefox using Revo Uninstaller Free Edition. Use the Hunter Mode so it will clean all the left over entries. Then download a fresh copy of Firefox and download the plugins back again.

Hope this helps,
Captain

Thanks for that.

I will do the uninstall tomorrow.
Doesn't explain the Photoshop or Pro Tools plugins though.

But if I can browse in peace I'll be fine.

I guess I just need to eventually fork out more money for a faster video card.
Those workstation cards cost a lot though.

Thanks

Your numbers seem fine. Windows is designed to turn off Aero for legacy programs that don't support it, but FF should not be one of them. My suggestion was to have WEI recognize your specs and perhaps fix the issue, but it was, as I said, a longshot. I think your resources are fine. But this is still a puzzler.

Why are some visual elements being automatically turned off?
