Firefox Metro UI Preview is based on an offshoot Nightly build of Firefox, codenamed “Elm”, and can be downloaded and tested now on PCs running Windows 8.
This early preview provides a fully functional web browser, complete with multi-touch support on compatible displays. However, as expected at such an early stage in its development, not all planned features have yet been implemented, while the Nightly tag indicates this is a largely untested build.

By any yardstick, the Developer Preview was a pile of poo.

The Consumer Preview was, by contrast, very fast, stable, and USEABLE.

Release Preview 32-bit has issues, but the 64-bit is fine.

And the RTM is simply superb to use, but LOOKS like a pig without lipstick.

I wonder how many base their dislike of 8 on bad experiences with the DP?

Quite a lot, I'd reckon, going on some of the comments I read.

It took me quite a while to try the CP after rejecting the DP as unuseable,
but now run the 32-bit CP on the other laptop, and the 64-bit Enterprise
RTM on this one.

As for 'Metro", I use Classic-Start on both setups, but keep Metro enabled,
tho I do boot through it to the desktop on start-up.

Both machines have their Windows 7 setups archived as system images in
case I want to go back to 7.

I used the consumer preview as well. I really don't like the metro interface at all.

All good, mate, wasn't having a go at you.

But the DP was SOOOO bad, I suspect that many simply never looked past that.

I was very nearly one of them...

I used it for about for a while didn't like it either. Staying with win 7 also. win 8 just doesn't seem worth the money to me.

I think they realize that with the cost they're setting. The cheap upgrade if you have the consumer preview or developer, 14.99 if you buy a laptop now, and so forth.

I wonder how many base their dislike of 8 on bad experiences with the DP?

W8 CP and W8 RP couldn't (or wouldn't) install my sound driver correctly.

W8 DP and W8 Ent are the only versions that work properly on my PC.

Yeah, download a program called Classic Shell. I've been using it to get XP functionality back in Win7. Now it's used to get Win7 functionality back in Win8, like the Start Menu.
