When I try to open Firefox, sometimes I get the message "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process or restart your system."

There's no Firefox on desktop. When I right click to open a new Firefox browser, the pop-up happens. When I right click on taskbar, I could see firefox.exe running, but I'm afraid of ending it. Tharefore I have to restart the computer.

I wonder if you run into the same situation and how did you resolve the issue without restarting the computer. Thanks for your time.

End it. The issue is how it got started in the first place.

I truly don't know what and how the problem got started. I was running Firefox withe 3 differet websites. I minimize the browser. When I restart the browser that's when the "message" appears.

If I hightlight "firefox.exe" and end it, what will happen please. Will I be able to start the browser again? Thanks.

If you are running firefox then minimise it, it is still running. Why minimise it? Just use the tabs.

When you end the process it closes the program. No harm.

Where are highlighting firefox.exe?

Hello there. First, I'm not sure that I have understanded you well but....

As member above said, you need to kill firefox.exe process from Task Manager. Firefox sometimes know to stay longer that enought in processes list.

If this is becoming an annoyance, we can help you troubleshoot the problem and see to it that Firefox closes properly without leaving a hanging process in Task Manager.

Most likely the cause is a bad plugin. If you want to look further into it, please let us know which plugins you have installed and which ones are enabled or disabled.

To get a complete list, simply type about:addons into the address bar in Firefox, then click on the Plugins tab on the left.
