I'm sent to the Mozilla website for a complete installation rather than the browser being simply updated.
I've tried through Help and About.
Any suggestions/solutions ?

Think I posted my problem backwards. I try to update by clicking the version on the About page.
It says an update is available with a link to the Mozilla homepage. On the homepage is a download for a complete install of Firefox. Usually, when I click the Version, the update starts to download, and then, you have to restart the browser for the update to install.
I also tried to update through Help and got the same link to the Mozilla homepage for a full install.

Yeah, that's the way it's supposed to work. Firefox has to be restarted in order to complete the update.

If you'd rather do it manually, then download it here: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/fx/#desktop

After it's done downloading, close Firefox and double-click the setup file.

But, that's a full install and not an update.

This isn't like Windows where there's a Full version and an Upgrade version. There's only one installer for Firefox, and whether or not it acts as an upgrade depends entirely on whether there's an existing installation of Firefox on the computer.

I've been upgrading Firefox since Firefox 2, so try to trust me. I've done this lots of times. I've just never upgraded through the About window because that's not my style. I like to truly know what I'm getting.

The last thing you'll see in the setup of the installer is this:

Firefox%20Upgrade.png

It has an Upgrade button because I already have Firefox installed. If I didn't have Firefox installed, then I think it would say "Install" (or maybe even just "Next").

In other words, you will get the upgrade if you install it through the About window. The installer is well-made.

A quote from a MozillaZine thread on this subject:

"
phkhgh wrote:Has anyone else seen the update to v21.0 from the most recent version before that, 20.0.1, download the full package? Mine did.

"Reported to be caused when the update server is busy. IIRC, the partial update file will try to download just once, and if the updates server is overloaded it shifts the connection to a "mirror" website to grab the full download.

"As rais mentioned, turn off automatic updates and do the update manually when there's less traffic on the internet in your region. I have 4 pre-release versions installed which I manually update everyday - before noon CST or after midnight. If I happen to do the update in the early evening when the load on the internet is the highest, my download speed drops to 1/10 of what it would have been if I had waited until after midnight."

How soon we forget. Down in "Similar Threads" is another post by me on FF 19.0 not updating to 19.2.
I logged on as admin and it updated perfectly.
Appreciate all the input to a question that had already been answered.
