Maybe the website is down.

Maybe you have a HOSTS file entry that prevents visiting that website.

hmm, I may know what it is. I seem to recall this site (that I work on for a friend), the firewall on the server end blocked my IP a few times before when I had some failed login attempts.

so I'm thinking that may be the case again. have to check on that too I guess.

Glad you got it sorted.

Unless your mac was using a different ISP (e.g. a cellular connection), then the mac should have been prevented from getting to the website as well. The server should only see one internet facing IP for your home. That one IP is what should have been blocked.

the mac has a different IP/ISP.
