Hi everyone. I need to buy a 1394 firewire card for my Inspiron 560. I want to transfer recordings from my dvr to my computer. I am not knowledgable about the wirefire technology. My dvr-Cisco RNG200-- has a two firewire ports that are activated. Any assistance will be appreciated. deanie44

Hi there.
I'll tell you something right off the bat : Windows do work with Firewire but! It's a hit or miss. I've seen a case where Windows 7 will not recognize a HDV cassette in a firewire device... it would only recognize it as a DV cassette. I suggest you to purchase a capture card for Windows if possible with your device.

Otherwise, if you plan doing a lot of that in the near future, I would go for... *gulp* a Mac. Firewire was born for that platform. Or so it seem. Never worked with a Mac and Firewire.

Otherwise...

The Rosewill has good reviews with Win 7 64bit except for one and he has barely used it he posted.

I never had a problem with HP desktops with firewire and XP. I might have been lucky or it was the Intel/card reader combo that made them work good. It had the high speed USB-2.0 Intel chip. A rarity.

That Rosewill looks like a good choice.

Guys thanks for answering my post. Unfortunately, the firewire ports on the Cisco RNG 200 are disabled. I have a tv tuner card.
