You shouldn't need drivers for a 1384 device - BUT, you may need to update your Firewire device drivers themselves as the actual controller may not be listed on the W7-QVL.
Check your 'Device Manager' and look for any oddities in the form of question marks, exclamation marks, etc.

Yup - that is what I was thinking....
I I am correct and this is a PCI / PCMCIA card, then it is not a part of the normal motherboard of the machine- thus it would quite probably have proprietary drivers, and would need to be installed to function correctly in Windows 7....

According to all the info I could find, this is an obsolete product from TI, but PCPitStop listed that the built in drivers in Vista and Windows 7 should work just fine.

Do you have any other machine to test he HD on? it'd be nice to rule out that the HD itself....
And I know that Firewire is supposed to support hot-swapping - but have you tried powering the machine down, and then attaching the drive, and then booting the machine?

Panasonic NV-GS5 and NV-GS 300 Mini DV Camera, both download to Video Editors
in XP Pro Computer via Firewire Controller Card.
W7 Computer recognizes Controller Card- either Astrotek PCI Express or X Sonic 1394a /400
Problem is W7 is not recognizing the firewire connection therefore I cannot download Video, visit to both Astrotek and X Sonic sites indicate no drivers avail to upgrade from XP both indicate drivers up to XP only
I require a Firewire Controller Card compatable with W7 PCIe or PCI that will work with with Video Editors, I am testing with Windows Movie Maker, Pinnacle 14, Pinnacle Liquid, all is well with the Camera's, Controller Cards, and Programs on the XP Pro Computers but not with W7 which leads me to the conclusion there is a problem with W7 and Firewire ?
Any help would be appreciated
