Hello,

I typically get a BSOD on the first boot of my PC. This is after I leave it off for a few hours. I don't have Sleep or Hibernate enabled. I've attached the zip of my latest dump files, hoping someone can help out. I don't get this issue just restarting the PC.

Thanks,
phylanx

Hello phylanx ! Welcome to SF !!

The Dumps are pointing to Core OS File which would not be the issue. Lets Start with basics.

Run a Hardware Diagnostic (Memory and Hard Drive) follow this link for instructions Hardware Diagnostic !! « Captain Debugger

Uninstall ZoneAlarm because the stack is pointing to NETIO.sys which is a well known cause by ZoneAlarm. Follow this link for help in removing it BSOD vs. Internet Security !! « Captain Debugger

Also follow this article Fix Windows Vista/7 Sleep mode from waking up by itself

Hope this helps,
Captain

Thanks for the reply Capt. Jack. I have run the hardware diagnostics.

1) chkdsk (both quick and long versions pass fine)
2) Memtest86 ran fine overnight, no errors.
3) Also ran system file check (sfc / scannow), no errors
4) I will try the tips for the vid card drivers next.

If I uninstall ZA, what firewall/AV do you suggest?

Thanks,
-phylanx

Phylanx,

You could use Microsoft security essential as AV and Windows Firewall is more that enough. Windows 7 Firewall Control : Sphinx Software for more option for Windows Firewall

Good Luck,
Captain

I'll give the Security Essentials a go and try a cold boot again later. I've read that some people that have had this issue replaced their RAM (they had G.Skill as well) even though their sticks passed MemTest as well. I may try running one stick at a time overnight and see what comes up.

Thanks for the help, its much appreciated. It's nice being on these forums and seeing that I'm not the only one with this issue, :)

So I've narrowed it down to a stick of RAM that was bad. I ran Memtest on a cold boot on one stick of RAM at a time and the first stick I ran I got unexpected interrupt, halting. Moved the stick to another slot and ran Memtest again on a cold boot and got some errors on the stick as well as the unexpected interrupt, halting. So I'm going to RMA the RAM. To confirm that it was the RAM, I went out and got another 6 Gig kit and did a cold boot with it (similar kit to my old RAM, 8-8-8-24 timings, 1600 Mhz) and didn't get a BSOD on a cold boot. Will post again if other problems arise, thanks guys.
