First BSOD post

Hello all,

I was in my office last evening and heard my monitor, (it is a CRT, so it makes noises) and turned around and too my horror my screen was blue!!

It said at the bottom that it was dumping memory, then it restarted and seems to be ok.

It had a dialog box saying that it had recovered from an unexpected shutdown. Now i have seen this dialog box in the past, but not the blue screen. I usually walk into the office and see the dialog box, which has always said that my computer has recovered from a serious error. I am going to assume that each time this occurred that my PC has had a BSOD episode.

I ran the DM Log Collector and am posting it along with the screen shot of the dialog box.

I am leaving it up to the professionals here on the forum to let me know what is wrong with my PC.

It is only two years old, so hopefully there is not a serious issue with it.

PS- I posted this last night, but i could not find it this morning. If an administrator moved it let me know and we can delete this thread.

Okay, we have way more tests to run if this dosen't work.

Ok I installed malwarbytes, ran the program and scanned

Found 96 items and 1 virus

clicked on dialog box in lower right corner of screen

program then shut itself off

thinking program did as required i ran the command prompt and scanned for and repaired bad sectors

Found nothing

open malwarebytes and found no quarantine and nothing showing what happened to all the scanned stuff??

so i ran program again and found the same things

why does this program shut it self off??

I quarantined the stuff manually and copied the logs

see screenshot and log file will, be rerunning command prompt while you look at the log

just reran command prompt, no repairs needed

Okay, it seems like it found 1 virus and 96 bloatware, the virus is in your hosts file(C:/Windows/system32/hosts)
i would recommend you to re-write it. But lets solve the problem first. Try running MemTest86+ http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

I am not sure what you mean by re-writing a virus, please explain.

Initialy you said my BDOS problem was a f4 or virus, which we found, so why are we going to run this MemTest86+ test?

This is very compliacted for someone like me. I read the tutorial and i don't want to get that involved with removing and checking memory. I don't understand how memory/ram and a virus are connected.

Please explain.

I had planned to purchase upgraded memory sticks in the near future and maybe that in itself would solve the problem, though i cannot grasp how the two are connected.

Okay, the F4 code can mean alot of things. It can be a virus, it could be a failing harddrive or RAM, etc.
Run MemTest86+ to check the RAM if there is any problems.

Alright, I ran the Run MemTest86+, it was easier than i thought to do.

There were no errors. I ran it twice thru 8 passes.

Ok, I installed the Seagate and ran the program. And while it says it will take a time to scan the drivers it has been over 25 minuets and no program window appeared yet. Does this normally taken this long?

Try reburning SeaTools on your USB

i saw nothing in the instructions about using a USB drive, that was the earlier test

Oh okay, use the same steps for the USB burning as you did before but with Seatools ISO(use the DOS version of seatools).
