Iv been having problems with running certain steam games over the last 6 months, the problem has been bad as of late. Im afraid it might be due to hardware failure as a stress test I was running with Hot cpu lite ended up in BSOD after 4.5 hours. Below is the dump file, If someone who knows what it means can tell me if I need new hardware I would much appreciate it.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.
If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Do the same for the CPU;
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100352-hardware-stress-test-prime95.html

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

We will talk after you provide the results. if your could see my above post, that would also be helpful so i could check driver versions ECT.

I ran prime95 for a short time and one core stopped after 6 tests so i stopped the test. Memtest86 i ran overnight last night for 8+ hours and no errors. Any info on how long I should run prime95 and furmark would be appreciated. The only thing I have in my apartment is my computer, so overnight tests I can do. But its basically the only thing I have to do here so leaving it running while im awake means Im sitting here doing nothing.

Ones of your cores shouldn't fail. i will have to look into that more for you.

Prime95 - 2 Hours (keep an eye on the Temperature)

Furmark - Watch for artifacts on the screen, and keep an eye on the temperature log. If you see artifacts, or the temperature levels out, stop the test. Depends on the persons computer. If there are any errors there they won't take long to show,.

I ran memtest86 overnight with no errors. Im worried about the cpu core stopping on prime 95 though. And that hot cpu crashed my computer after 4.5 hours with the bluescreen error i posted.

We (me and Doctor 44) think we have sussed it.

Stop Overclocking (if you are)
Reset your CMOS, by removing the battery on your motherboard for 5-10 seconds.
Keep an eye on your CPU temp.

Its possible that one of your CPU cores are failing. Hopefully resting the CMOS will iron the problem out. If it fails to do so, you are possibly looking at a new CPU.

Ok i disconnected my ethernet cable and ran prime 95 with everything that can eat up cpu disabled including avast. 2 hours no warnings no errors. But I couldnt get my computer back on the internet, it kept saying local area connection doesnt have a valid ip configuration and it wouldnt fix it like it normally does. So i reinstalled windows again to be able to get online again.

Im thinking its the motherboard.

Going to test it on the game that crashed asap with this fresh install.

I didnt think pulling the battery could do that, but thats what happened, i lost my second monitor and it wouldnt recognize my amd hd 4290 until i reinstalled the chipset drivers. Im at a loss, unless my motherboard is just doing those motherboard things a motherboard does when it starts going out. I have been having game crashes since late january, but never enough to make me think it was hardware. I figured it was skype because it hates me, and i hate it.

But recently when trying to play terraria with my gf I noticed how often it crashes on that game, its like clockwork every time, unlike torchlight 2, which we can play for hours with no crashes randomly, or sacred 2, or league of legends. For some reason terraria uses a part of my pc that is bad, its another fresh install, I did a fresh windows 7 install not long after noticing the problem, yet it persisted to spite me.

I will run furmark after testing terraria to check for artifacts. If I get none i assume the motherboard is my problem then?

Btw thanks for taking the time to help me, I dont have a bench pc or another pc to help me determine what hardware is failing on me, if any that is. I contacted steam support also, but they are taking their sweet time getting back to me.

Ran furmark, no artifacts, game still crashes. I cant seem to recreate the crashes outside of steam games. Im going to load up the witcher and let it run for some hours and see if I can cause the crash that way. Could the motherboard be going bad but only affect steam games?? Nothing has changed on the computer to make it not work, its a fresh install of everything.

Antivirus blocked those viruses. I would appreciate not linking me to infected files.

If you're trying to link me to SF diagnostic tool i downloaded it from HLPTechs link already again. Is that what you want? Btw just ran the witcher for an hour and a half with no issues at all. It only happens in steam games :(
