...I was at a fast food place - watching a toddler trying to get some relatively fresh gum (already been chewed by someone else) unstuck from the floor. The toddler's young mom and her friend were also watching - so I did not step in. Once the toddler realized that his little fingers could not get that gum loose, he laid down and tried to bite the gum from the floor. The mom calmly allowed this to go on for 10 or 20 seconds. I'm not sure that the mom would have stopped the toddler if it had not been for other customers wanting to walk where the toddler was "working".

There are plenty of very old and relatively health people that subcribe to the theory that the human body should be exposed to germs as a mean of bolstering the immune system.

I see way too much use of anti-bacterial stuff...

Did you read the article? yes there is bacteria and how much gets on the food depends on what surface its on and how long it stays there.

...and if people only knew what most toddlers manage to survive (germ wise), perhaps they would not hose them down with anti-bacterial stuff so often. That stuff kills the good and the bad germs.

I remember when I was at a baseball game one time there was this man who had his coke and hot dog on one of those cardboard trays. He stumbled walking to his seat. The coke and hot dog went everywhere. In about two minutes this teenager walks up and looks down at the hot dog. He picks it up with two fingers and disappears under the stands. In about five minutes he comes walking back with this huge bulge in his cheeks.
