I bought a FlashVoyager 16GBGT in September for use with my XP pro machine and all was fine. I have now upgraded to Windows 7 Pro 32-bit and I can no longer use the flash drive. When I plug it into a port the Autoplay window pops up for a few seconds and then disappears, then reappears, then... and so on. If I catch the Autoplay window in time I can get Windows Explorer to come up but it immediately closes.
I have tried it on an XP machine and everything works perfectly. I have reformatted the flash drive to FAT32 on the XP machine but nothing changes on the Windows 7 machine.
I have tried on the machine's ports and a powered hub.
I do not have access to another Windows 7 machine to test.
I also have a FlashVoyager 4GB which works fine have tried another 4GB drive which also works perfectly. Another 4GB generic flash drive has the same problem.
I found an old HDD and did a clean install of Windows 7. There were no problems with the Flash Voyager GT and its driver! The generic drive also worked perfectly.
As I don't really want to do a full clean install of Windows 7 and all software etc, I did a repair install... BUT this hasn't fixed the problem. What seems to be happening is that the driver for the flash drive is installing, uninstalling, installing and so on. I wanted to try to remove the drivers then reinstall them before I go to a full reinstall of the OS but I don't have the knowledge to know how to do this. Can anyone tell me how to go about this. There seem to be a lot more security barriers compared to the XP I am used to.
Does anyone have any suggestions for fixing my problem without a full reinstall as this is the only issue I have with my setup. I'm at a loss about where I might start.
Thanks

No joy with that suggestion I'm afraid. I've also tried uninstalling and removing all USB devices and still the problem persists.
I think I'll do a clean reinstall of Windows 7 and see how it goes.
Thanks for responding.

Kande, any luck in finding a solution elsewhere for your flash drive issue. I'm facing the same.

hi philcanac
I never found an easy fix. I finally reinstalled on a newly formatted drive and checked the problem as regularly as possible so that I could restore to an earlier point when the problem arose. I found that two drivers had singly or in combination led to the problem occuring again. The first was using an old driver for my (old) scanner rather than the one supplied in Win7. I did this because the old driver gave me control over the physical buttons on the scanner. The second problem driver was a one for my wireless desktop keyboard/mouse which came up as an optional Win7 update. In both cases I tried simply removing the driver in each case but this did not do the trick. However, when I restored to the system before adding the driver, the flash drive worked fine again.
I'm now very cautious about adding drivers for USB hardware and check things out before and after installation so that I can easily get back to the setup before adding the drivers.
Sorry I can't give you better news.
