So, yesterday, I wanted to turn battery care off and I couldn't. I had to install a series of drivers and components for it to turn off. It finally worked somehow.
Somewhere in the middle of doing that, the FN keys stopped working. I have the VAIO Event services and it's currently started. Still nothing.
I have a Sony VAIO VPCEB32FM with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.
If you can help, that'd be great because I tend to use FN quite a lot.
Also, I think one of the services or drivers caused a slight black-screen delay after the welcome screen.
Update: The volume one works, but it doesn't show the little popup when I turn the volume up/down/mute. The other ones still don't work such as brightness, zoom, etc.

Hello CamiKitti and welcome to Seven Forums.

Without knowing which "series of drivers and components" you installed to eventually turn off battery care, it's impossible to offer a definitive fix for your current issues. Try using system restore to roll back your computer to a date/time prior to having the battery care problem. Your Vaio should now be in the same condition as before (unable to turn off battery care) but the Fn keys should be working.

Instead of haphazardly installing drivers and components did you attempt to use the diagnostic tools provided through Vaio Care? It works very well to maintain my VPCEB47GM using Sony approved drivers and components when called for. If you don't have Vaio Care installed there's a link in the third blog comment.

Tips & Tricks: What is VAIO Care

If Vaio Care can't solve your battery care issue and if you feel the need to reinstall the drivers and components that led to your Fn key problems, I'd suggest you install just one driver or component at a time. Immediately reboot the Vaio to make sure everything is still working properly. Then install the second driver or component, reboot, check for proper operation. Either everything will install correctly and your computer will still function properly, or you will know exactly which driver or component is messing up.

The problem is now fixed. Apparently all I needed to do was reinstall Sony Shared Libraries. I don't know how that got uninstalled. Now, the SmartWi Utility works again too!
