I have a custom window 7 theme that is suppose to apply the folder background along with everything else, and i used the windows theme patcher program to apply the theme to my computer, everything works besides that the folder background doesn't appear. I know there are programs out there that allows you to change the folder background manually using pictures that you saved, but i want to use the custom theme's folder background and I am wondering if there are any ways to do that

Hi zerox535

Can you post a link to the theme so we can have a look at it. Also post a screen shot of exactly what you mean by folder background.

Does the theme come with an installer or have you had to manually replace the system files.

No I cant get the folder background to alter either though I suspect the installer isn't quite right as it keeps crashing explorer.exe rather that stopping and restarting.I will ask for some further help from someone who may be able to extract the correct file from the msstyles folder and we may be able to add it manually.
Keep checking back

I looked at the .msstyle and it's OK I will not install the .exe not knowing what is in there I tried unzipping it could not, then looking at it with Restorator don't see a theme or what changes things.

I would run this http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html repatch using 1 of these 2 ways of Enabling custom themes for it to work.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/34579-enabling-custom-themes-windows-7-a.html
Or

Then retry it if it does not work then contact the maker and ask whats up.

Ive tried to install a few times now with the same results. There is clearly something not right with the installer.

@zerox535 One thing I didn't try is installing with UAC turned off. Delete the theme from C:\Windows\Resources\Themes. There will be a folder and a windows theme file delete both turn off UAC and reboot.See if that helps.

Danny

It does install with UAC turned off:):)
