folder backup

I was wondering how to create a backup of a folder on a flash drive, but also use the backup data on other computers. I did some research online and all of the sites I visited just created a shortcut on the flashdrive which is of no use on another computer.

Hello Theski,

You could just manually copy and paste the folder into the flash drive as a backup for this.

i tried this but it pastes a shortcut of the folder not a copy of it

Are you sure that you copied the folder and not a shortcut of the folder to the USB drive?

Install this ( http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/516-context-menu-add-copy-folder-move-folder.html ), then right click on the folder and "Copy to folder" - folder being the USB stick.

I dont know what the problem was with me copying and pasting before but for some unknown reason it is no longer pasting a shortcut but a copy of the file, and i didnt change anything or change what i was doing from before

this is somewhat unrelated, but i was wondering if it was possible to save one document to two locations at the same time?

Not that I'm aware of. When I desire to do such, I do a "Save" then a "Save As" directing the file to the location where I would like the second copy to be placed (usually a USB stick).

Also, check out SyncToy as a way to keep the folders on your computer and your USB stick synchronized.
