I have a problem with folder display.
I want all folders default display to be "List" but whenever I set this then use the "Apply to all folders" option it never applies to every folder in my PC.
Just the one I am editing and it's sub-folders.

Anyone know a quick way to apply this to every folder?

Hi PROpane, welcome to the forums.

Have you tried throught Control Panel?

Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization -> Folder Options

This may have more of a sedired effect instead of having a folder already open.

Hope it helps :)

Thanks for the advice but it doesn't solve the problem.

Anyone else?

The view style is applied to folders of a specific type. Apparently there are several, including the typical with mixed content, but if a folder only has say, MP3 files, it applies a different style, same if only pictures, etc. This kind of annoys me, although I see the logic. Maybe this is causing your current situation?

Hello PROpane,

This is due to folder templates as DJG suggested. You will need to use the "Apply to all folders" to separate folders for each folder template to affect all folder views.

I have not tested METHOD TWO in this link below yet in Windows 7, but it should be the same to reset all folder views in all folder templates.

Windows Explorer Folder View settings - Vista Forums

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Yeah.
I like registry edits more than normal methods.
Probably because registry more often works.
