Solved Folder Icon

Hello,
My folder icon has suddenly turned into a generic folder icon. However, I have over hundreds of files in there, and there should be sheets sticking out of the folder showing the various file types. How can I fix the folder icon?

Other folders are perfectly fine. Have already reset icon cache. No use

Okey doke. See if right clicking on the folder, click on Properties, Customize tab, Change Icon, Restore Defaults, and OK may restore it.

But strangely, the folder was named "Documents", and reseting to the defaults changed it to "My Documents", even though it is not the "My Documents" folder in each user profile

What's the full path of the folder?

C:\Users\[Username]\Desktop\Documents.
If I use CMD and dir that path, it's correct. If I dir the same thing, but "My Documents", it doesn't work.
That's AFTER I renamed the folder.

That's perfectly normal for all of the "My...." user folders.

The folder is called "My Documents" by default, but it's referenced by "Documents" in the file system instead.

Well, I have a "My Documents" folder (not on the desktop because I removed it from there) and another "Documents" folder that I manually created.
But I realized what you said If I browse to the system's "My Documents" folder and shift-right click to open CMD, it says "C:\Users\[Username]\Documents"
But the folder I am talking about is on the DESKTOP, and the path is "C:\Users\[Username]\Desktop\Documents".

Could be an issue with your "My Documents" location set in the registry. Use OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to make sure that it's set to the default location.

Oh, just saying, instead of doing the attributes in command prompt one by one, just do this:

attrib +r -s -h "%USERPROFILE%\Contacts" /S /D&&attrib +r -s -h "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop" /S /D&&attrib +r -s -h "%USERPROFILE%\Documents" /S /D&&attrib +r -s -h "%USERPROFILE%\Downloads" /S /D&&attrib +r -s -h "%USERPROFILE%\Favorites" /S /D&&attrib +r -s -h "%USERPROFILE%\Links" /S /D&&attrib +r -s -h "%USERPROFILE%\Music" /S /D&&attrib +r -s -h "%USERPROFILE%\Pictures" /S /D&&attrib +r -s -h "%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games" /S /D&&attrib +r -s -h "%USERPROFILE%\Searches" /S /D&&attrib +r -s -h "%USERPROFILE%\Videos" /S /D

Basically, group them all together with an "&&" between each with no spaces

When I do any of the shell:... commands, it gives me this message:

The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

I did everything.
All the folders have the Location tab, though, but the shell command doesn't work.

Nvm. Solved it. It had nothing to do with the user profile folders. I just right-clicked the "Documents" folder on my desktop (the one I made myself) and went to the Customize tab. I clicked "Change Icon", changed to something random, then applied. I went back, and clicked on "Change Icon", but then clicked "Restore Defaults", and everything was back to normal
Just to clarify, it used to look like a folder with no item preview, but then it changed to a folder icon that looked like the "My Documents" icon, and now it's back to a legit file preview.

So, If I put "explorer shellersonal", or "explorer shell:documents", they go to the documents folder. If I use the "explorer shell:desktop", it'll go to the desktop folder. However, if I use a random command like "explorer shell:lolfail", it still goes to the documents folder

I tried "shell:Cookies", and it gave me "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect." When I tried "explorer shell:cookies", it opened explorer with the path "C:\Users\TEMP\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies".
