I named a folder as "01.03.01" and then I wanted to name is as "01.03.01. " ---there is one space after .---. The folder disappeared. I right clicked on my mouse and then chose undo rename. It came back again. I changed the name to "01.03.01. " again, and it disappeared again. I had to undo rename again and leave the name as "01.03.01".

Do you know what is the reason for this?

I am just writing this right after the incident and there is nothing on my mind now.

Does anyone have any idea?

I can't reproduce this problem. If I have a folder named "01.03.01" (or anything else) and I add a space to the end, Windows automatically removes the space. You say the entire folder disappears when you do this? Can you still navigate to it by typing it manually into the navigation bar?

If you put a '.' at the end of a file name it will save as a hidden file/folder, so if you have your folder options set to not display hidden files, folders, or drives then it will disappear. not sure why it's hiding it with a space for you, i also can't replicate the problem, but will see if anyone around the water cooler at work may know something if i can't find out

It was as you said guys. I did put the . in the title, but forgot to put it in the message.
As both of you said, Windows was removing the space after . and because of the ., it was saving as a hidden folder.

Sorry for the confusion of . .

Thanks again.
