Folder Picture

Is there any way to make the folders in a directory just show the picture and not the yellow folder around it? makes the picture hard to see and small. and looks bad.

btw thats was done in photoshop just to make you see what i ment.

The only simple way I know of doing this is to use the properties - customise menu - and select a suitable .ICO file or one from a .DLL for the change Icon option

ok i figured this out, with a little help from barman58.

this is how you do it.

Find the cover for the movie/tvshow/music album you want to put as a cover
(google)

go photoshop, make a new picture
(256x256 pixels highest the *.ico format supports)

open the cover image in photoshop, go in Image Size in Edit
change the height to 256 pixels

copy the picture over to the previous image you made. and center it.

Save As : ICO

right click folder you want to change the image for, Browse and find the new Ico picture you just made.

takes awhile to do this for a big movie collection. but it's worth it for a obsessive person like me.

Glad you have things sorted - Rather than use PS for this type of conversion I find the freeware IcoFX software a better option as it understands the Windows 7 .ICO format and creates the icons for smaller views in addition to the 256 PX size
