I set all folder to general template as per Brinks tutorial which works great. I then set folders view to "list" only at some point (maybe a couple hours, maybe two or three days) to have it revert back to default "details view". Messed with this for months with every suggestion I could find on the web but it was not to be. Being extremely irritated with this and quite hard headed, I was determined. I have almost succeeded in the goal thru a massive amount of trial and error. 98% of this issue is caused by cleaning programs of which I run several. Yeah, I know some say they are bad some say they are good. I've been a proponent of cleaners since the Windows 95 days ONLY if you have the knowledge to use them correctly. Using cleaners has resulted in my having rare issues with any Windows OS when everyone else had issues.
The cleaners I use have certain options that must be stopped:
1. Window Washer > Wash Setup > Windows & Pro (whatever you use) > Windows System > Edit > uncheck "Registry streams"
2. CCLeaner > Windows tab > Advanced list > uncheck "Windows Size/Location Cache"
3. RegVac > Expert Zone > Scan & Clean > uncheck "MRU and History Lists"
4. RegAce no issues
5. Windows 7 Disk Cleanup no issues
This has almost completely stopped the folder settings from reverting back to default. The now rare times it does happen, I have not been able to pinpoint the cause but will keep trying.
Does anyone know of any other happenings that cause this issue?

ps I use a lot of Brinks tutorials for everything on my computer, thanks Shawn!
