im not sure if this is the right place for this but... i just made a new comp with windows seven. i have all my music arranged in a very specific way. part of the way i have it arranged is that all the artists names have the pictures of the albums with it in the icon. i have artist folders and in the artists folders i have the different albums. in each album i have a picture of the album cover and i have the picture as the thumbnail for each album. my problem is that only some of the albums have thumbnails and only some of the artists have the thumbnails as well. is there a certain way i need to have the pictures in order for them to appear as the folder thumbnail. any help will be great.

Try to copy a thumblnail of the Artist from google or from anywhere else and then replace the old one with the new one... That should do it

right click the folder/
Properties/Customise tab/choose folder and choose the picture you want shown as the thumb.

You can also .. name the albumart jpeg inside the folder .. "folder" it will always show that thumb for that folder. Then hide it if you choose to

I am having a similar issue trying to set my preferred thumbnails. (I hope the OP doesn't mind me including it here.)

When I right click a folder and select "properties", I don't even have the "Customize" option like I used to have in XP. Can anyone tell me why, and how to get those options?

I like to have a photo thumbnail, of my choosing, displayed on my folders. Not just in music and picture libraries, but also in Documents - to make certain categories stand out and easier for me to find quickly.

I miss having this ability in Windows 7.

Also, in My Music, I have a folder in which I have music files that I put together for a soundtrack. I chose a jpeg that I labeled "folder.jpg" and got it to associate with the folder. (Actually, the original folder had a different jpeg that was automatically associated with it, and it wouldn't let me change it... so I had to create a new folder, move and rename my chosen folder.jpg and then move all the music files to the new folder.) That worked, except I can barely see the jpeg thumbnail I chose, because the folder thumbnail has a wma page blocking most of the picture.

Any advice?

ETA: Okay, I found out why I didn't have the customize tab. I didn't realize the libraries were not the same as "my music", "my pictures" etc. in XP. I found the open location option and found the customize tab there.

I have changed some of my folder thumbnails that way, but a couple kept changing back or going to a blank folder. Not sure why.
