Folder View Options?

Hello

I have a question how to get this problem solved. Look at the two Pictures.

First Picture is from Win 7 i want the same Folder Arranging Options like in Win Vista.







I made a red box around the things i want to also use in Win 7 not only for Vista.

Is it possible to activate these options somehow in Win 7 i dont want always to click right and then press sort by i want just click on one of the pre designed buttons like in Vista.

Hi Unix10, and welcome to the Seven Forums,

As far as I know the column headers have been removed from Windows 7 where the view is not column based, replaced by the advanced sort and group options available on the right click.

I believe it was felt that the look of the imaged based views were spoiled by having the headers there, and the functionality was available by other means, although I like you also found them useful at times.

Thats really sad maybe i have to get used to it by time or maybe there will be a workaround some day well its just a little thing what iam missing in Win 7 i really like Win 7 and iam staying tuned for the lates RC 1.

I can get that view in Windows 7 but only in the "details" view. You might try that but I don't think that will do what you need. It will let you sort them though. Good luck.

I know that in details mode this is possible but then i got no thumbnails

Hi Unix10,

I agree that we miss the little things that we get used to, but to be honest I can see where the stylistic aspects would lead to it being removed, that bar did look a bit out of place and the arrange by dropdown that is used in the libraries does blend in better - but that's not in the normal folder view so is a little inconsistent

I have been a Windows user since Windows 3.1 when you had to install with 15 floppy disks. I have gone through 95, 98, 2000, XP, and Vista. After having to buy a new laptop and new desktop to run Vista, I finally got everything to work well. My absolute favorite feature in Vista was the sort bar in thumbnail view. It saved me a lot of time every day. I just recently purchased a new laptop with Windows 7 thinking it would be faster. One of the first things I noticed was the sort bar was missing in every view but "Details", a step back to XP. What could Microsoft be thinking? They had to pay programmers replace the the sort bar, surely there must be some good reason. Sorry for this long post but I'm really upset. No wonder so many people are going over to MAC.

If you hate change then going over to Mac is the last thing you would do. Apple says you must do it like this. Tomorrow they say like this. No option no control.

I don't mind change if it is for the better and makes you more productive. In this case it is definitely a step back, takes several more mouse clicks and slows you down.
