Folders always displaying in descending order?

Hi. I'm new to this forum...I have a strange issue here that I can't figure out and can't seem to find anything on google. I have a Win7 PC that always displays folders in descending order. I can't get it to stay in ascending order. I've tried the following, but everytime I reopen explorer it still goes back to descending order.
- I've right clicked in explorer and selected sort by 'ascending' order. Closed explorer, re-opened it and goes back to descending order.
- I've also tried 'Restore defaults' in the view tab of folder options, but still sorts by descending order
Any ideas how to get this to stay on ascending order?

You might see if resetting all folder views back to default may help.
